Shining Stars is "A Fun Place To Be"

Phyllis McCormack: Owner of Shining Stars

It has always been my dream to provide a special learning place where young children could feel safe, secure, happy and at home. After extensive planning and determination, Shining Stars was created. And I am so proud of it!

My goals were to create an environment where learning is fun. A place where your child can enjoy and trust other children/adults, and to offer a variety of developmental opportunities so they can learn more about themselves. Our teachers would be caring, talented, motivated, educated and they would have to absolutely adore children! They are trained in child CPR and First Aid and participate in continual early childhood trainings and conferences. We are proud to say that Shining Stars is a member of the Child Care Resources of Rockland and the National Association For Family Child Care. I have achieved my goals.

Testimonials

My son Joseph has attended Shining Stars preschool ⁄ daycare for approximately 2-1⁄2 years. He absolutely loves it! The staff has done an absolutely wonderful job with him. They have the perfect balance of both structured and free time. They do all sorts of projects and work on developmental and language exercises. It is a nurturing and loving environment and he looks forward to going every day. The best part is that all of the staff genuinely cares about Joseph, his development and his family, which feels great.

The environment is warm, nurturing, and clean and lots of fun. I am completely confident that things are the same way whether I am dropping by or there for a scheduled pick up. I love the staff; they are experienced, qualified, genuine and very dependable. They communicate and collaborate with me regularly on Joseph’s development, how he is doing and if there are any issues or items to work on.

Shining Stars is a wonderful place and an excellent environment for a young child. My son is developing so well, I am very pleased and proud of all that has been accomplished with him and this is in large part due to Shining Stars. I would not hesitate to recommend Shining Stars to anyone, as a matter of fact I have, and their son has attended for more than a year and they are as pleased as I am.

My son and my entire family love Shining Stars and the entire staff, I cannot say enough about them.

It has been a true pleasure to have 2 out of our 3 children attend Shining Stars and look forward to our youngest starting next year. My child is very happy and excited to go and it is never a struggle because he knows he is going to a safe, nurturing and warm environment.

We are very comfortable recommending this program to my friends and/or family.

I am very excited that my twins are going to Kindergarten, however, I will, as well as they will deeply miss Shining Stars. At first I was extremely impressed by how clean the center was. I love the structure throughout the day. The staff works well with the children's individual needs. The first day I dropped them off, I felt so confident they were in good hands. They came home with excellent projects and messages for me. The meals are nutritious as well as the snacks.

I always felt that I could stop by at any time. My children learned a lot, not just their letters and numbers, but even more. They learned how to socialize with other children. Again, as much as I am so happy they are moving on to Kindergarten, I will and they definitely will, miss Shining Stars. I would certainly recommend this program!

My husband and I moved to West Nyack in May, 2003 with our two-year old daughter, Madelyn. We quickly made friends with the neighbors and soon asked for references for daycare. Two neighbors had recommended Shining Stars and by September, 2003 our daughter was enrolled two days per week. In September, 2006 Madelyn entered kindergarten and it was an extremely smooth transition, which I very much attribute to the outstanding care at Shining Stars.

Phyllis McCormack, the owner, obviously loves what she does and is so enthusiastic to see her "shining stars" each and every day! The same holds true for her staff, Barbara and Kristen. This made me feel so happy to leave my child, (later children), there.

The blending of age appropriate curriculum for each child, along with the well organized and maintained indoor and outdoor play areas was a perfect basis for my child's academic and social future.

Parents always want the best care for their children. They want to feel their child's needs are met and know they are always in a safe and nurturing environment. Shining Stars has never wavered in their commitment to each child and their parents. That is why I did not hesitate to bring my second child there for the past five years also and would not hesitate to recommend Shining Stars to anyone else!

My daugher Danielle has been coming to Shining Stars for a little over two years. I am very pleased with the care and services that Shining Stars has provided for my daughter. I have no hesitation and feel very comfortable about leaving my daughter here. She loves coming to Shining Stars, and that makes me feel very comfortable. She is excited to come and play with her friends, she always talks about her teachers and she enjoys the activities that they do. It offers a well balance between social and educational setting. My daughter has learned to be responsible for her belongings, and is a well-organized little girl, due to the structure at Shining Stars. The indoor/outdoor environment is always clean, neat and well organized. The policies are clearly communicated and any changes are made well in advance. I have referred friends and family to shining Stars and will continue to do so. Thank you.

Since the first time we visited Shining Stars, we felt like Maya was staying with relatives or friends. Maya has grown up and matured so much since that first day and is excited everyday going to school. We know that she has been cared for by some very special people. It has always been exciting for us when Maya shows us something new that she learned. Once when Maya was adding and subtracting on her fingers, Joanna and I looked at each other in amazement. "Where did you learn that?" is a frequent question. Of course, we know it was from you.

Thanks for all you have done,

- John & Joanna
